Director
Cyndi Johnson, a cum laude graduate, received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Millikin University. She is also an alumni of the Edgewood High School “Music Warehouse.” Her teaching career began in Arthur, Illinois, teaching vocal music to K – 12th grade students and directing the Arthur show choirs for two years, before moving to Mt. Zion to be the assistant director of the junior high/high school show choir program. She has served as the vocal director for the Decatur Park Singers and the Greater Decatur Chorale, been on staff at Eastern Illinois University Show Choir Camp, as well as working as an adjudicator and clinician for various Illinois music festivals and show choir invitationals. Cyndi currently continues the tradition of excellence in the Mt. Zion Community School District by teaching Intermediate Chorus and two auditioned honors’ choirs. Her love of music is shared with her husband, Kevin, and children Nate, Gabe and Isaiah.
Over 40 Years of Excellence
Created in 1996, Electric Youth began as the Honors Choir at the Intermediate School. Through the years, Electric Youth has performed in the community and has also participated in state music festivals, where they have received numerous first ratings. They also tour other schools in the area and are seen in many local concerts with the junior high and high school show choirs.
